I get it…your mentors are telling you to write a list of 100 people that you know and call all of them! YIKES! But, you don’t feel comfortable doing that. There’s got to be a better way, but what is it?
Before I learned about attraction marketing, I tried to get comfortable doing all the things that my upline and my network marketing companies all taught, but I never really felt comfortable trying to talk to people who had no intention or interest in my business. I hated the feeling of having to talk to the other soccer moms or baseball dads at my kids’ sporting events. They were all successful lawyers, doctors, & business people so what in the world would make them interested in my business. Plus, when was the last time you went to a party and the local lawyer came up to you and said “Hi, my name is John Smith, I’m a lawyer and I really think you should consider becoming one too”. It just doesn’t happen and I wanted a way to find people who were looking for me.
Finding people looking for you is the beauty of attraction marketing. It’s an online technique by which you offer value through your blog, your website, or any marketing that you put into the marketplace. If you’re targeting the right people, you’ll be sure to attract the right people into your business (no matter what it is).
How and where do you attract the right people?
You may be asking yourself…but Jan, how do I attract the right people? Where do I find them? I’m so glad you asked because if you don’t know already, there are 1.5 billion users on Facebook right now (1,590 million active users). Those are some pretty big numbers and why wouldn’t you want to figure out a way to use Facebook (since you’re on it anyway) to your financial advantage?!
With the right training, you’ll be able to generate leads and convert those leads into sales and as soon as that happens, you become the authority to everyone around you. When you position yourself as the online MLM trainer who can help other network marketers learn how to generate leads and recruit online, you’ll find people who already like MLM, have demonstrated the willingness to invest in an opportunity, and are already using personal development in their every day recruitment strategies. Eventually (probably sooner rather than later), they will realize that you’re the person whose team they need to be on.
One mistake that I see network marketers make every day is they don’t brand themselves. They’re out there only promoting their company and their company’s products rather than promoting themselves and what they can do for other network marketers. This is a problem for several reasons, but most importantly, people don’t go on social media (especially not Facebook) to buy anything. They go onto social media to be social. So, if people can’t get to know you (versus your company), you’re leaving a lot of money on the table. If you’re selling health and wellness products, for example, you can position yourself as the nutrition expert and give tips on good eating and exercise. Pick a benefit of your product (s) and offer value based on that.
Another reason that branding your company and not yourself is what if that company goes out of business (which I’ve seen happen many times over the last 15 years)? Where does that leave you? Don’t put all of your eggs in one basket and you’ll be happy that you did.
